On August 19, GasGas announced that it would enter the MotoGP level competition next year. They replaced Suzuki, who announced to withdraw after the end of the 2022 season, and became the name of the new manufacturer in the highest competition of the world championship.
Before being acquired by the parent company of KTM Group, Pierer Mobility AG (Pierer Mobile Travel Company), GasGas's core business was in the field of cross-country racing (Motocross field cross-country and Enduro endurance/forest road cross-country) and obstacle climbing car (Trial). After merging into KTM Group, GasGas entered Moto3 last year and started to enter Moto2 this year. After entering MotoGP next year, GasGas has become the third manufacturer in MotoGP to participate in three level competitions (the other two are Honda and KTM).
In the 2023 season, the GasGas MotoGP team will be operated by Tech 3, and the original orange color of the car will change into the main red color. At present, the confirmed driver is a small E (Pol Espagaro, Espagaro) from Spain who is currently working in the team of HRC factory. The other driver in the team will be announced later.
GasGas takes GET ON THE GAS "refueling" as the current theme of the MotoGP project. From the appearance of the frame, aerodynamic kit, WP suspension system, exhaust pipe layout and other external outlines, it is believed that GasGas, an unnamed MotoGP racing car, is RC16 of KTM from the same group.
The manufacturer said that participating in the game and generating excitement through the game has always been a part of the soul of GasGas. In the field of off-road racing, they have already enjoyed a high reputation. With their success in Moto2 and Moto3, GasGas has prepared for the next challenge - entering the peak competition of road racing, and looks forward to bringing their young, fresh and passionate atmosphere to the highest level stage of road racing.
