Through this acquisition, Day One will receive the same technical, financial and security support as WordPress.com, Tumblr and other Automatic products. Mayne said that he would continue to take the helm of the Day One, and the team members would remain unchanged, which also meant that the Day One used by users to save ideas, photos, videos, recordings and other content would not disappear.
Mayne also revealed that Day One will integrate with Tumblr and WordPress.com in the future on the premise of ensuring user privacy and security.
Day One is a diary and note taking application. At present, the application itself provides free download, and the use of synchronization and other functions requires a paid subscription. This application has won Apple Design Awards in the past ten years, and has been highly praised by the New York Times, Washington Post, Time, Wired and other media. The Day One application has been downloaded more than 15 million times in 225 countries and regions.
Automatic is the developer of WordPress, a famous blog and website building platform. As of April 2018, more than 30.6% of the top 10 million websites have been built using WordPress. Automatic has acquired many products of small and medium-sized teams in recent years, including Tumblr, a lightweight blog platform abandoned by Verizon Media, and Simplenote, a note taking application.
Interestingly, Automatic is also a company that has long adopted the remote office mode. At present, the company has more than 1000 employees in 75 countries around the world. The company provides an office allowance of 250 dollars per month. If employees choose to work in a coffee shop, the company will also pay for their coffee. Employees who join the company will receive $2000 to improve their office environment and provide all employees with the latest Apple devices.
