Xinhua News Agency, Shenzhen, December 14 (Reporter Wang Feng) At the 2022 Carbon Peak Carbon Neutralization Forum and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum held here in Shenzhen, Shenzhen Virtual Power Plant Management Center signed a cooperation agreement on virtual power plant construction with China Tower, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, Huawei Digital Energy and other units on December 13, The 5G base station energy storage system in the city will be jointly promoted to be fully connected to the center by 2023, providing fast and flexible adjustment capability to ensure the safety of energy and power systems.
The virtual power plant is not a real power plant, but a set of energy management system. Through the energy Internet technology, the power load resources such as charging, air conditioning, lighting, and energy storage scattered in the end users are managed and optimized. The energy storage system is the core system to ensure the continuous power supply of the 5G base station. When the urban power grid supplies power normally, the system can help smooth filtering to improve the power supply quality. When the power supply is abnormal or fails, it can be used as a backup power supply. The spare energy storage of 5G base station is usually idle. It can be aggregated to participate in power grid dispatching by accessing the virtual power plant management center.
According to the agreement, the signatory will also explore the business model and industrial application model of 5G base station and other load resources participating in demand side response, spot market and auxiliary service market, so as to provide replicable and promotable experience for the reuse of "sleeping" resources of 5G base stations nationwide.
On the same day, Shenzhen Virtual Power Plant Management Center also signed contracts with 36 virtual power plant aggregators, involving power users, power generators, energy storage companies, as well as many upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain such as virtual power plant R&D, design, equipment manufacturing, etc. They will work together to drive the technological innovation and industrial development of virtual power plants, further expand the participation of Shenzhen virtual power plants, Promote the development of comprehensive demonstration projects of virtual power plants.
On August 26 this year, the Shenzhen Virtual Power Plant Management Center was officially inaugurated in the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, which is mainly responsible for the construction, management and daily operation and maintenance of Shenzhen Virtual Power Plant. It is expected that by 2025, Shenzhen will have built a virtual power plant with an adjustable capacity of one million kilowatts, and gradually form a stable regulation capacity of about 5% of the annual maximum load.
