On November 23, IT Home reported that the recently released Windows 11 build 25247 has a controversial function, which makes quite a number of Windows Insiders uneasy. IT Home learned that users had been dissatisfied with Microsoft's efforts to put more and more advertisements into the operating system before, and the latest Windows 11 build 25247 added a website recommendation function to the Start menu, making this dissatisfaction even worse.
Fortunately, like other experimental functions of the development channel, users can remove website recommendations from the start menu in Windows 11 build 25247. What is needed is the Vivetool application and a command that also allows the user to change the number of recommended websites (two or one).
How to disable website recommendation in Windows 11 build 25247 (Please note that before using the ViveTool application to enable the hide option, please back up important data.):
1. Download ViveTool from GitHub and unzip the file.
2. Press Win+X and select Terminal (Admin).
3. Press Ctrl+Shift+2 or click the arrow down button at the top of the window to switch the Windows terminal to the command prompt configuration file.
4. Use the CD command to navigate to the folder containing the extracted files. For example, if you have copied ViveTool to C: Vive, enter CD C: Vive.
5. Enter vivetool/disable/id: 40059556 and press Enter.
6. If the recommended website function is not available, you can try to use the vivetool/enable/id: 40059556 command to force it to be enabled. In addition, the vivetool/disable/id: 40059556/variant: 3 command can change the number of recommended websites from one to two.
7. Restart the Filer or the entire system.
